Wow has it really been that long

Okay I have been way remiss in posting here. I will try to catch up a little. Cayla is doing great, looks and acts just like any other two year old. Two weeks before her second birthday she started throwing full fledged temper tantrums just as a two year old should. Not to brag but people tell me all the time that she has beautiful eyes. This past weekend I said thank you, she had skull surgery at 5 1/2 months...her eyes are so special to me because of that. I can remember Melissa and I holding her up to the mirror and seeing her "harliquen" eyes...one smaller and less round than the other. That and her uncrooked nose say so much about why she had the surgery.

Cayla is brave to a fault...a real daredevil. We were at academy not too long ago and Zane said mom Cayla is on top of the ladder...the ladder being a 10 ft tall thing that she was really at the top of. Talk about scary. Tonight she fell between the handle of our shopping cart and the cart...wouldn't stay buckled for nothing. I just keep waiting for the day she gets a concussion and when they do the cat scan seeing all those funny cracks....oh boy.

She is a SHOE fanatic. She takes hers off and wears everyone elses. One day she lost one of her shoes at daycare and I told her the next morning that she was just going to have to go barefoot...she cried..shoe, shoe, shoe...SHOE, found tennis shoes and proceeded to put them on without socks. The next time she lost her shoe I made her go barefoot and called her shoeless joe. She currently has on one red flip flop and one purple flip flop..mine not hers. At least she can put her shoes on by herself most of the time.

She has an above average vocabulary. Says a lot of words and is making sentences. Yesterday Zane stepped on her toe and she said to me...Zane (nane) blubleaua which meant zane stepped on my toe. Tonight he pushed her and she came crying to me, I said did Zane push you and she said Nane push me..no no nane. But when she falls at daycare she cries for NANE...like he will rescue her. Don't know how she will take it when he goes to school in the fall.

Okay better run...gotta give her a breathing treatment--yep she has the beginning stages of asthma so we do breathing treatments twice a day.

Shoeless Joe now has on a pair of high heeled blue flip flops but on the wrong feet...boy am I in for it when she gets older.

20 months old

I just realized Cayla is 20 months old. Nearly 2...oh my gosh where has the time gone. Tonight we went to Feast of Sharing a meal provided by a local grocery store for the community. The meal was good and it was free. Zane and Cayla both liked the ham best... I liked the mashed potatoes and bread (maybe that is why I am fat and they are skinny). After the meal we went to the children's area where the kids colored a Christmas card for a soldier, and made reindeer out of the kids foot and hand prints. I am going to try to make another one at home for John. I usually just give him the cool stuff...but this one I want to keep.

After the reindeer making, we stood in line and stood in line and stood in line to see Santa. Zane got his face painted while Grampy and Cayla stood in line. Then we all stood together again. When we finally got to Santa, Zane went right to him and sat down, but Cayla cried. I put her in his lap and she waved her hands around and cried. So that was one picture...then Zane did one alone, then we did one more with her screaming in Santa's lap and finally one of Cayla standing by Santa still crying but not as much. I guess it is good that she is afraid of strangers but it was funny because she usually flirts with every man we see...maybe she prefers clean shaven men.

I am going to move the kids around after the new year. It looks like Amanda will be staying in Arkansas so I will put one kid in her room and leave the other one in the currently shared room. I think I am putting Zane in the front room and keeping Cayla where she is, but all this may change. I haven't converted her bed yet, so I better try that first. I think I will do that over Christmas break.

More later along with pics.

Just call me bad mommy

Okay, I am the world's worst blogger. I started out gung ho and now rarely post, yet I love to read other people's blogs...hmmm maybe I just like to snoop. Anyway it has been way too long since my last post here. I sincerly apologize.

Cayla is now 21 lbs and growing like a weed. Unfortunately, she has been sick with sinus stuff for two months now. We are on our 3rd antibiotic. At least she is good about taking the medicine.

She is happy most of the time, but when she gets mad watch out. She got mad at her big brother this week and sat in the floor and kicked him..hard!! Then the next morning she walked over to him and hit him for no reason. Zane said, "Cayla is going on the naughty list." Too funny.

Cayla is talking a little more. Mostly jibberish, but she can say momma finally. She says dadda a lot. She can also say hi, bye, dog, Zane, Judy and ball. Her favorite word to say and least favorite to hear is NO. We were in the car recently and her first "sentence" was uttered out of the blue. She said, "NOOOOOO Zane." It was funny, I was laughing so hard I was about to cry....the she said NOO Cayla. That was the last time I have heard her say Cayla. If you ask where is Cayla she pats her tummy.

She is in love with her daddy. He moved back to town and has been spending more time with the kids. Cayla will barely let Zane near John. And when he is around she forgets anyone else exists. It is cute and he eats it up....but she could show me a little love.

Well, Melissa took some pics at Thanksgiving. I will try to get her to post.

In the meantime, you better not pout, you better not cry, I'm telling you why, Santa Claus is coming to town. Don't be like Cayla and get on the naughty list.

Whoa--time has flown

Has it really been a month since I posted. I can't believe it. Cayla is now 16 months old. She is showing more and more character each day. Just the other night she went to our back door--which is a french door set. The dog was on one side and Cayla on the other. Reba (the puppy) would bark or lick the door and Cayla would laugh and jump around and hit the door and babble. Then she would fall over. She played like that for a good half an hour. It was funny.

Last night we had dinner with Cayla's best friend Aubrey. The two girls didn't interact too much while we were eating but as we were leaving Aubrey touched Cayla's arm and Cayla leaned over to her. They were giving each other baby hugs and kisses. So swseet to see the babies loving on one another. It made up for Cayla's big brother being a real pain while we were eating. Cayla and Aubrey have been friends since before they were born. It is so much fun to see them grow together. I hope they can keep that friendship up through the years.

Still no real words but Cayla knows how to point. She points and walks, leading with that finger. Very funny.

I will try to be better about posting. But for now, I will quote from one of my favorite songs--Bowling For Soup's 1985...."She hates time, make it stop!!"

Running

I know I don't post here enough. I am sorry about that. I guess time just gets away from me.

Cayla will be 15 months old on Wed. She doesn't walk she runs. I want her to slow down--but she has her own plan. I still want her to be a baby, but she can't stay that way forever. It reminds me of how God must feel about us. We run through life, never slowing, just rushing through. He wants us to slow down and savor the life He has given. He wants us to see His plan and live for Him. Unlike Cayla, we will always be God's babies--the children He loves. Maybe it isn't Cayla who shouldn't run, it is me.

Cayla has her funny little ways. She will be headed toward something she knows she can't have and will shake her head no the whole way there--but does it anyway. She has started to give things back to me, if I ask. I am thankful for that. Before now she would just cry when you took her prizes away. She has a dimple in one cheek that just glows when she grins.

She is a princess still and I guess always will be.

She doesn't speak and that concerns me. Occasionally she will say hi and dada. Once in a while she mamamamama's. But there are no real words yet. I am praying that she will speak clearly soon. And then it will be like it was when she was learning to walk--she ran, and so she will probably never be quiet--and I will wish for the days that she didn't talk.
